Blogging madness: Updates on the way!!

When I first started this blog, I always said that this was going to be like a journal for my girls to read when they are older.  My life used to be an open book and I really didn't mind that all my adventures were in a public blog.  The end of 2009 brought so many changes to our life that it didn't seem right to keep posting in an everyday basis as I was not going to be able to write as openly as I liked.

BUT, I was looking back at my old posts and it makes me sad that I never wrote the day to day things from 2010 until now.  As we get older, our memory is not the same, and I confess that I can't remember details as much as I would like to.

Luckily, I did post some things in Facebook and I will take the time to update this blog with the main events from our life during these last few years.  Even though I stopped posting towards the end of 2009, there are some updates on us up to November 2011.  Back then, I made a post for each one of the girls with details and updates about them up to that point.  With that being said, I will post updates with the main events that I can remember (with the help of Facebook and my pictures) starting December 2011 until now.  I started yesterday and already made three posts December 2011... It's fun to look back and I'm sure I will enjoy these updates very much!  I will make a new post once the blog is up to date.

Also, I did a blog makeover and I love how it looks now, even though it looks better in the computer than how it looks on mobile version.

And just because a post without pictures is just too boring, I'm including pictures from the girls from this weekend with some of our pets (that's a another post) and also a picture from my oldest nephew (remember him?)

A pup's birthday

My nephew's pup, Lila, turned one and a party was done to celebrate.

This pup "resuscitate" today after being lost for two days and it was just an amazing experience for all of us, especially for my girls and nephew.

Lila did something that I have only seen in movies today.  She was able to get to our old neighbor's house, we assume it was because it was the only place that was familiar for her (as we moved last month).  The houses are far away, and we still don't know how she got there. But she did. It was like a miracle!

So, today, was a very happy day and we have enough dogs (and even a cat) in our house to be able to do a big party. On this picture, Gaby is holding Luca, Mia is holding Loly aKa Angie, my nephew is holding Lila (the birthday girl), Mimi is holding Gatie, and I'm holding Lupita (my mom's old dog that is around 12 years old)...


When we were going to sing happy birthday, ss soon as we light up the candle, the cat RAN away!! I'm talking that she JUMPED and ran away like if her pants were on fire. The way the kids reacted was priceless!

Regardless how many challenges I may have on my day, there is one thing I know for sure: My BFF is ALWAYS there for me. She listens without interrupting, she doesn't judge, and she will always look at me with those adoring eyes full of love...

The pets are assigned

There are 2 pups and 3 kids. I knew it was going to be an issue to determine the "sharing" system, because they are all crazy about them. However, a neighbor gave us a kitty and the problem resolved itself.

Mimi said she wanted the kitty, and that made the process easier. Mia chose the female dog, which I named Loly... and Gaby chose the male dog, which I named Luca. Mia wanted to call her dog "Angie" and I refused to because I have a friend with that name, but I have the feeling that she will still call her "Angie" when I cannot hear her.

Poor Gigi was trying to sleep a little bit on top of the totes. Luca eats like there is no tomorrow and knocked her down until he got what he wanted. Even though Gigi was exhausted, she still was tender and you can see how she is caressing him with the paw...

Gaby... the Dog Whisperer

Gaby's love for animals goes beyond the normal love any child can feel for pets.

Since she was a baby and started cruising around, she started feeling a huge love for ANY animal... even ants.

She loves pets, insects, farm animals, birds, reptiles... ANYTHING!

After we had to give away Sassy, she has been begging for any pet for the house.. She wanted a dog or a cat or a hamster or a turtle or a bid or a fish... I promised her that by the time she was 10, she was going to have a pet, and she got her dream come true.

Seeing her with Gigi's pups makes my heart feel with joy, because I can only imagine the joy inside of her heart. She's getting the male for her... We named him Luca and she's totally in love.  Her favorite show in the whole world is the Dog Whisperer with Cesar Millan and I gotta say has learned a lot... that she cares for them like a total expert.

Wordless Wednesday

It's been a while that I don't make a Wordless Wednesday. And of course, I am not making it so "wordless". I won't say anything about the picture itself, so that is what makes it wordless. Happy Wednesday to all!

Mimi's weekend

As expected, Mimi and Gaby organized a strike because they were not going to let me get away with Mia's quality time weekend. They requested one for each one of them.

This weekend was Mimi's weekend with mama, and we did a lot of things.  Opposite to Mia, she IS very bossy so she ask for lots and lots of stuff.  I tried to spoil her as much as time and money allowed. She was extremely happy.

Even though we did a lot of things, her main interest was spending time with the pups and helping with their feedings. She did an awesome job and just can't get enough of them.

Eating is one of her favorite things to do and, as I always say, it must be all going to her brain to make her smarter, because she is still my very petite and very thin baby.  On the first picture below she's eating one of mama's special wraps, then eating at Mc Donalds and then vanilla ice cream.


Just as I imagined, taking Mia to the movies to watch Mr. Peabody and Sherman was going to mean that I would watch the movie more than once. I watched my second round with Mimi.  Thanks Goodness is a good movie. Mimi also wanted to see the aquarium and I took her too. On the third picture, she got into one of those mini attractions you find on malls.. she wanted to pretend for 2 minutes that she was a baby again.


I got naughty bunny ears and tail to wear over my clothes at my work's Halloween party and she tried them on. I promise to embarrass her about it when she is older. She also got a new book about dogs, and of course she wanted to know ALL about chihuahuas.


At the movies the Frozen sign are still up, even though they are not playing the movie anymore... I am sure she would have made me watch it for the 100th time...

I'm a grandma

Gigi got into labor early on Monday and even though the vet was worried that she may need a c/section, he was able to help her to give birth naturally. Sadly, one of the pups didn't make it and another one was born sick.  One is chocolate, the other is kinda sandy color and the other one is kinda gold like Gigi.

Breastfeeding has been a real challenge because when the pups cry, Gigi understand they need her and she gets all "mama bear", but she doesn't understand that they just need to be fed. She needs to have the pups put on the breast every 2 hours until she understands that they need to do that.

As I work full time, Gigi has been staying at the vet during my working hours to get help with the feeding and I have been picking them up after work every day. This has really been a full time job and I am not looking forward Gigi getting pregnant again.

Another challenging situation is that Gigi wants to get the pup on top of my bed... I mean, it is YES or YES for her. Many things related to hygiene keeps me from allowing her to do that, but also because if they move, they may felt off. To help with this, I am keeping them all inside of the cage which is sad because Gigi wants to be free, but I will need to do this until she understand that they do not belong in my bed.


The pup that was exactly Gigi's color was not feeding very well, and the vet's assistant told me that he was having a hard time getting him to attach to the breast. Also, Gigi was pushing him away from the others.  The vet explained him that moms do that when they notice a pup is sick as an alert. The vet suggested tube feeding but he was not very hopeful. After a little over 24 hours of tube feeding, and after fighting hard for 4 days, he was just too weak to keep up. We were very sad, but the girls were strong about it.

Pups still in the oven

Today Gigi have been showing signs of being in labor and I got really scared (I seriously know nothing about the subject).  She's soo tiny but has gotten sooo big, so I called the vet... he was a total sweetheart and asked me to bring her in for a check up. The told me that the pups seem too big for her, and that she may need a c/section.  I just hope everything works out for her.  Pups are still cooking and she's holding up like a champ!

Quality time with Mia

Mia needed to have an special imaging done on her eyes and it was far from home.  I decided to give her a whole weekend for her... just the two of us.

We did the test on Friday and then did everything she wanted to do for the rest of the weekend.

She has always been the biggest mama's girl on earth, and since a few years ago, she has grow a huge need to please me. It wasn't like that on her first 2-3 years of life, but she is extremely well behaved and does everything the way that she is supposed to.

She never really asks for anything and it feels like she spoils me A LOT, so it was nice to spoil HER for a whole weekend.

Mia wanted to watch a movie (any movie) and we decided on Mr. Peabody and Sherman (middle picture below). It was her first time watching a movie in 3D and also the first time watching a movie without her sisters. She also got to ride the metro for the first time (right picture below). She also loved the mini aquarium at the mall where the movie theater was located at (left picture below).


We also had lunch at Pizza Hut with one of my friends and she ate like a pig. We also went to do x-rays for Gigi (we were told that x-rays were more accurate for dogs than an ultrasound at the last stage of the pregnancy) and we found out that I'm gonna be a grandma of FOUR!!! Mia loved this experience.

Grandma-to-be

... and OF COURSE, I'm talking about Gigi.

A few weeks ago, Gigi spent a couple of weeks at a friend's house. She has a chihuahua just like Gigi and we didn't know she was in heat.

She had show NO sign whatsoever of being in heat but apparently she was, because they were all over each other.  By the time we realized about it, it was already too late.

Of course, I wasn't sure if she was pregnant or not, but today her belly is so big and her nipples are so swollen that I honestly think I'm about to become a grandma.

Doing the calculations, she may be due for sometime in 2 or 3 more weeks. Not only I wasn't ready for this, I also know nothing about dogs pregnancies and deliveries... but I have no other option than dealing with this the best I can..

Getting ready for Santa

It has been a tradition in our house to wear something special to receive Santa.  It may be the only tradition that we have never broken.

This year I wanted to have the girls do something and decided to try some Arts and Crafts project.

I purchased plain white shirts and Glitter Glue in different colors.  Not only was fun, but it was also very inexpensive.

They wanted a Christmas Tree on their shirts so I draw them myself and they did all the decor to the trees.  I even did one for myself.


They were SO PROUD of their finished shirts!!

A friend of mine was babysitting them in the morning when I went to purchase the supplies and she was BEAT after just two hours with them.  And of course, Gigi needed to be in the picture too.

It's a b*tch

... and no, I'm not cursing! I'm introducing our new family member: Gigi Lucia.  She is a 9 months old chihuahua and the girls love her very much.  She drives me crazy because she does everything a dog is not supposed to do, but she has her moments when she is so sweet that makes me forgive her.

School Play

Mia and Mimi had a Christmas play at their school. Mia was not really part of the play because she didn't want to rehearse as "the sun was bothering her too much" (her words). She's too girly for that... For Mimi that wasn't a problem, so she was part of the play and got to wear a very cute handmade outfit.

Just a day at home

We have been sleeping at my mom's house simply trying to keep the girls away from the unpacking process, however not being able to unpack at night is making things way slower. I know we will get it done at some point!

Task #79: Checked! - New home for Sassy

When the decision of getting a smaller place was done, we knew one of the most difficult things was going to be giving Sassy away. She was still a puppy, however we knew she was going to grow into a huge dog and it was an impossible thing to think we were gonna be able to keep it in an apartment.

One of my mom's employees offer to take her home and raise her and it was a blessing, because she was going to be able to stay in a place where we can actually go and visit her. They came to pick her up and I felt they were taking away a part of me. We weren't sleeping at the house already, and we were only coming to pack and feed her, which made it easier for the girls. A few months after that, even when they knew she wasnt living there, the girls will continue saying that Sassy was at the old house.

Then, when the girls found out that she was preggo and delivered 3 puppies: they were thrilled!! But that is a whole new post.

An afternoon outside

Today hubby had the idea of doing a "picnic" outside... We were going to eat some sandwiches and we bought a a very unhealthy orange soda (it is a local brand and it is hubby's favorite... It is similar to Mirinda or Fanta.. very high in dyes). From all sodas in the world, my less favorite are the orange ones, cause to me they taste like medicine, but hubby loves it...

Anyway, we had a lof of fun, and after we ate, hubby started fixing a few things in the car and I started playing with the girls while laying down on the comforter we lay outside... Here is Gaby with "Pito".. He has being her favorite plush toy since she was 8 months old....

Then, we got the bikes out... While hubby was still fixing the car...

At first it was only Gaby's bike and the other two were just looking at her (please, ignore the ugly looking front of the house...Our gardener is giving us a hard time, which is mostly why we want to get our own mower... )

It was a fine afternoon, and then we got inside for a bit because it was too hot... Then, we got out again, and we stayed outside until it was dark already! Fun!
