Today was Mimi's 11 months old check up, and Mia's 2 years old check up.

As Mia is really sick from the cold, I didnt sent her to school, and instead she stood in my mom's house with the maid. She was happy but still very sick. Hubby and Gaby came in the school bus up to a KFC that I have close to my job, and after I picked up Mimi, I went to pick them up. Of course, we were all starving, so we had some pop corn chicken.

Then, we went to pick up Mia, and then: The Pediatrician! It happend what I knew it was going to happen. Mimi weights 18 pounds and 12 ounces, and 27.5 inches long which is mostly the same as her 8 months old check up. By that moment, she was an average 8 months old baby, but now she is in 18th percentile for weight and 12th for height. The pediatrician told me not to worry because babies are suppose to weight 3 times what they weighted at birth, and she actually weights 4 times what she weighted at birth. I understand his point, but to me, Mimi is too small for her age. I will hate me if this has something to do with her being outside the house and not with me all day long...

Mia is 29 pounds and 4 ounces (80th percentile), and 33.5 inches long (37th percentile)... Her height is a bit low in percentile, but I know she is not going to be tall, so that is fine with her... She has lost and gained back a lot of weight in this past year, and I think rigth now she is just fine. Her cold it is really bad, and he actually prescribed her a bronchodilator, and an antitussive. She wont be going back to school tomorrow... I think she is not ready to go back.

Most of the people that knows me knows that I was dreaming to have a boy that was going to be named Sebastian. It never ocurred to me the possibility of having all girls and not having my baby boy. As my first pregnancy was a girl, it was something really "natural" for me to think that the second one was going to be a boy. We even had cloth and toys that we were saving for when I had my boy.

When I was pregnant with Camila, and after tons of ultrasounds (because she wasnt cooperating), we learned that we were having another girl. I wont lie. I was dissapointed. I was happy that I was going to give my daughter the sister that I never had (with three brothers, I always dreamed having a sister), and I was thrilled that I was going to get the girls to share the same toys and stuff, but still dissapointed. Of course, hearing people saying: "Another girl?? Awwww, Im sorry", like not having a boy after a girl was really the worst thing in the world.

So, not big deal... I was getting my two girls "close in age", and then after a few years I was going to try for my boy, or maybe two boys... But God had other plans... Despite birth control, I got pregnant after 5 months of postpartum and even though I was dreaming about a boy, I knew it was a girl. Deep down in my heart, I knew that another girl was going to be a perfect addition to our family, but I couldnt help but to want my Sebastian. As you guys know, it didnt happened. Another girl was on the way, and I wasnt sure what to feel... Dont get me wrong... I LOVE having all girls, and I think it is the best thing that has happened to us. I dont even know how I will even fit a boy in this house.

My feelings were mixed, mostly because I knew I had to get a tubal, and Sebastian was never going to be born. How WRONG I was...

Sebastian IS born... And he is Camila's age... (the pictures are not that good, but this is the best I have):

Now, dont you dare to think that hubby had a kid with another woman... Or that I secretely had a baby boy and never showed to you guys... He is the son of one of hubby's cousins and I really dont know what is happening to me, but I want him!! Maybe it is my old need of having a boy, but to me he looks like Camila's twin. I told hubby: We need to have him!! Can we adopt him?? LOL

Life has been so crazy and a month after Mia's party, her thank you note was undone... This changed today, when I finally sat down and did it....

This thank you note is for all the people that wished her Happy Birthday from the bottom of their hearts, and for all the people that gave her an online gift.... Also, for all the people that attend to the party, and especially to the person who made it all possible: Cara.

THANK YOU!!

PhotobucketAfter a picture like this, there is nothing else that you cant do that keep you away from cutting somebody's hair... Mia has been fighting against her hair for the last couple of weeks trying to actually SEE the world around her!! So, it was mandatory to cut her bangs (which means of course, to cut a bit of everything).

Also, Gaby was due with a haircut because she was starting to have split ends.... I most say that they both behave like angels... Even Mia simply sit down and was calm through the whole process!!! It helped that it was simultaneous (one in a chair and the other one in another)... Im very proud of them....

As Im working with the web page of the school, I needed to take pictures of the school buildings, classrooms, group and casual pictures of students, and pictures of the staff. I hired a photographer for that from Several Solutions. The owner of the company is one good friend (he has been my brother's buddy since they were kids), and they took the professional pictures from Mia's party.

The first thing to do was to take pictures of the preschool area, kids and teachers, so I had to do a good job hiding from Mia... Of course, I asked them to take her tons of pictures, and even though she was not cooperating much, I wanted to share some of her pictures anyway. I still havent seen them all, but here are just a few that he emailed me....

Gaby and I were playing with some stickers that had 3 dolls and tons of outfits and shoes.... We were able to choose what the "sticker dolls" were going to wear. We put one doll in each one of the girls dialy reports from school.

Here is "Gaby doll" for her own report, and if you notice she has a flower in her head......
Photobucket
Well... minutes after we were done, I went to the kitchen, and Gaby was showing hubby all the dolls..... And that is when she said: "Gabriela is going to school beautiful, with a flower"... That was ALL in English!! Using "is", "with" and "a". We are talking about 9 words in one sentence for a 4 year old girl that still cannot keep a conversation in English.... I mean, she can understand, and she will answer you questions, but she cant come up fluently with a conversation as she does it in Spanish...

Anyway, I just wanted to share my happiness.... I really want my daughter's to be fully billingual and this is a huge step for Gaby!! Kudos to her!!

... or should I say "body" painting??

We came home from school and the girls were asking to go to the pool. As Mia is sick from Mimi's cold, that was not going to be possible, so I decided to do some finger painting.... I normally get a bit crazy with trying to keep them out of making much mess, but today I had a really bad headache I wasnt in the mood of talking too much.

And of course, if mommy if not asking them a hundred times to be cool, to keep painting in the paper and not somewhere else, and so on, this is what happens:

Then, I left them with daddy because I went to take an hour nap to see if the headache was getting better, and this is what I found on the camera:

Wow!!! I cant believe that in one month my last baby is going to be a toddler. Of course, she will always be my baby, but it makes me sad that I wont be able to hold a baby of my own anymore...
Photobucket
Anyway, I have been looking around for milestones Mimi should have by 11 months old to see how advance she is, and here is what she does:

- Walks while holding onto furniture, and even while holding into toys (like the push around car)
- Uses the "pincer grasp" to pick up tiny objects between his thumb and forefinger.
- Can stand alone. She actually does this since she was 8 months old, but she still havent figured it out.
- She says "mama" and "papa." She also says "leche" (milk), "agua" (water), "pamper" (she just started saying it).
- Talks in conversational gibberish.
- Can climb the stairs (of course, we have been behind all the time) - Transfers a spoon to the mouth.
- Imitates speech rhythms, inflections, and facial expressions.
- She began to seek approval and avoiding disapproval.
- She refuses forceful teaching.
- She shows guilt at doing something wrong.
- Waves bye-bye when is leaving the nursery.
- Have two teeth (since forever).
- Claps out of happiness (since a while ago).

Cant wait for her checkup to see how much she weights and how tall she is!! My petite princess!!

After we got home from school, I started taking the uniforms out for the girls to take a shower... As always, Mia was having fun and making it a long process... Mia had her shirt off and Gaby her socks and shoes and here is how they have fun (and yes, there are high and they can hurt themselves if they fall off from there... my crazy monkeys!!)
Photobucket
I didnt send Mimi to school today, instead my mom missed work and stood with her in her house... She had a bit of fever in the morning, but didnt had any in the afternoon and up to now... I guess the medicine is really working.... She didnt want to eat much, which makes my mom go crazy, but she was happy as long as she was held or in the floor (no crib or seat).

Thank you to everybody that has been asking how she is doing... I really appreciate that! :-)

Yesterday, when I got the lab results they showed that everything was just fine.... The white cells were just fine and the platelets too. I was going to keep her controlled until Monday, but we noticed that she was too congested... My poor thing had to take the bottle out, take a breath, and then keep drinking her milk, because she couldnt breath through her nose.

My mom stopped by the house to drop of two of Mimi's bottles that we forgot in her house, and I took advantage of it and asked her to take me to the ER. That way I ws not going alone with Mimi, and daddy was able to stay home with Mia and Gaby. It was around 8:00pm probably.

The pediatrician in service in the children's ER took a look at her, and the first thing she said: "She is just FULL of white spots in her tonsil! She has a SEVERE tonsillitis!!!!!!" Normally tonsillitis comes with high fever, that's why it never occur to me that she may have it... Gaby gets them a lot, but this "low fever" symptom totally confused me. Thank God her ears are fine, because most of the time Gaby gets the whole package of Tonsillitis + Ear Infection + Cold.

They injected her a medicine, gave her acetaminophen for the fever, and prescribed her antibiotics for 7 days plus saline drops... She told me that she was going to be just fine in a couple of days after the antibiotic starts.

Here is a picture of my sick baby as soon as we got home... It was already over 10:00pm.... Do you think this looks like a sick and sleepy baby??

Today was Gaby and hubby's school field day at 10am. Mimi was still with some fever, so I decided to take her to the lab... While hubby was getting Mia and Gaby ready for the field day, I was taking Mimi to the lab (Yaay for me being able to drive now). I also called my mom to asked her if she wanted to keep Mimi during the field day, as hubby needed to work for the field day, and I didnt want to be in the middle of the sun chasing Mia and Gaby, with poor sick Mimi on top of me.

So, we went to the lab and she was really brave... She cried a bit when they were taking the blood out, but they offered her a lolly pop and she calmed down right away... Then, I took her to my mom's house, pick up hubby and the girls, and then left to the field day.

It was a really great day!! The girls got to play in tons of games and win lots of prizes.... They also got to jump in a big trampoline (Mia was more interested than Gaby in it..... I guess Gaby prefers to jump in the bed).
Here are some random pictures.... I seriously love the first picture of Camila... She looks so relax with her beloved doll that she cant leave without.
